zarafa Open source

Zarafa Collaboration Platform (ZCP) is open source, licensed under the official free software license Affero GPLv3. Zarafa uses standard Linux packages such as the Apache web server, Postfix e-mail server and the MySQL database. These are interchangeable with other packages which can perform the same tasks making Zarafa highly flexible. Zarafa differentiates from proprietary and other open source vendors in being the only vendor combining open, compatible and enterprise collaboration.

zarafa No learning curve

Zarafa has maintained an almost identical look and feel compared to Outlook, which is good news for any organization that decides to switch over as users can easily adjust. It not only is familiar in layout but carries the familiar features such as the address book, calendar, and public folders to which Outlook users have become accustomed. It also provides connectivity with Outlook by means of a plugin.

Microsoft uses the proprietary Messaging API (MAPI) for communication between Exchange and Outlook. Zafara has implemented its own version (Mapi4Linux) for compatibility. Like Exchange it can also perform authentication through LDAP and Active Directory.

zarafa Full device support

Zarafa users can have that Web 2.0 Outlook “Look & Feel” via web access on any mobile device and on all ActiveSync compatible mobile devices and Blackberry via the Blackberry Enterprise Server.

zarafa More stable, more secure

Zarafa’s Linux server saves your email and collaboration data to a MySQL database for added security. The client is built as an AJAX-based web-app for high accessibility and ease of use from mobile devices.
